SOCIAL – How To – Report on Social Media
Purpose of this How To Guide: Know what information needs to be included when reporting on social media
Applicable to: Social and Paid Media Executive, Account Manager
Customers: Those Social Customers that receive a Platinum report
Timescale: To be completed within one working day of request
Introduction
Some of our clients require more information than what NinjaCat pulls due to larger social media campaigns or a surge in engagement/traffic.
This will be requested by the Account Manager or Lead on an ad hoc basis when further information is required – usually after the report review meeting.
There may be a task already in your schedule for this, but if it is not requested this can be cancelled.
Purpose
This reporting task is not to reiterate the data that is pulled through the table, but to add further insight as to what management work you have done that month.
Make sure you are adding additional information to what can already be found in the table.
Examples of When a Social Media Write Up is Appropriate
- If you have run adverts for a client
- If you have run a competition for a client
- If it has been utilised as part of a wider elaborate campaign (not a typical campaign plan)
- If they have had an anomaly in their usual levels of engagement/reach etc and requires an explanation
- If you are managing their social media as a one-off
- The Account Manager or Lead may request a write up in a different scenario, but they will brief you on this as and when requested
Format of Your Write Up
- Write ups should be typically less than 100 words unless otherwise requested by the Account Manager/Lead.
- Bullet point when possible – if it requires more than two paragraphs, use bullet points instead
- Say what you have done, why you have done it, and the results you have seen
- Make sure the results you talk about relate to the goals you initially set
Example:
“This month, we ran a competition offering your target audience the prize of X by doing X. This was to increase brand awareness, which we achieved as your reach increased by X and X number of people could recall your advert. Further to this, we also saw X completed conversions after visiting your website as a direct result of this campaign. Next month, we expect to see new follower levels drop as the competition has ended but will do X to keep your new audience at a steady level.”
After You Have Written the Write Up
If you have a task for it, send your write up content to the Lead and Account Manager through the task. Once they have acknowledged receipt, complete the task and make sure you are correctly classifying it as “reporting”.
